I had a week long conference at Lake Biwa in February. I saw my first real snow since being in Japan. There were less than 35 of us all together, but I met many JETs from Okinawa to Tohoku. One of the women in my group was a survivor from the Tsunami in 2011. Most of the times JETs get together the majority are 1st and 2nd years, but at this conference almost everyone was a 3rd, 4th, or 5th year JET, and everyone had superb Japanese skills. We were after all, teaching mock Japanese classes! Anyway, I had an educational, fun, and unique experience that I'll not forget anytime soon.
２月に琵琶湖で一週間の研修会があった。日本にきてから、初めてつもっていた雪を見た。全部で35人以下だったが、沖縄から東北までのいろいろな所から来たJETの人が集まっていた。私のグループの一人は２０１１年の津波の生き残りだった。ほとんどのJETの会では参加者の一年目二年目の人数がより多いが、今回の集まりはほとんど３・４・５年目の人で、皆の日本語力は感動的だった。まあ、研修会の内容は外国語として、日本語を日本語で教える模擬授業だったから、やっぱり上手だったよね。とにかく、勉強になったし、楽しかったし、まるでユニークな経験で、忘れられないだろう。
