On November 7th a music festival was held in Kusaka Elementary School’s gymnasium. Teachers and students from Hidaka Village’s elementary and junior high schools came and sang a plethora of songs. The song I performed with all of the teachers was a composition originally written by John Denver, but revised by Yoko Honna for the movie ‘Mimi wo Sumaseba’ entitled Country Road. I played guitar together with two teachers: Takahashi-sensei from the Board of Education and Shimomoto-sensei from Hidaka Junior High School. Both of them played the guitar and sang at the same time, while I myself only played guitar. It was a delightful performance. Despite my skills having markedly diminished since I never practice playing, I’m glad I was somehow able to pull off playing the song passably. I’m happy that I was able to share in the experience of singing and playing the guitar together with all of the teachers in Hidaka Village. Great job everyone!
十一月の七日に日下小学校で音楽会が開かれました。日下小学校の体育館で、村内の小中学校の子どもたちと先生方がいろいろな歌を歌いました。もともとはジョン・デンバーによって書かれ、 「耳を澄ませば」という映画のために本名陽子が作詞し直した「カントリーロード」という曲を私は小中学校の先生方と一緒に演奏をしました。私と教育委員会の高橋先生、そして日高中学校の下元先生の三人でギターを弾きました。私はアコースティックギターを弾くだけで、歌いませんでしたが、下元先生と高橋先生はギターを弾きながら、歌いました。私は、ずっとギターの練習をしていなかったので、下手になっていましたが、結果的にカントリーロードをうまく弾くことができてよかったです。日高村の先生達方と一緒にギターを弾いたり、歌うことができて楽しかったです。皆が力を出しきったと思います。 お疲れさまでした！ 翻訳の確認；島村 和久と下元伸博と松岡律子 Website: http://hidakaalt.blogspot.jp/
